The primary purpose of the Gospel COMPARATIVE is twofold - First in designing a simple, straightforward format that tells the “one-story,” which comprises the four canonical gospels. This is done by crafting all four books into a single, linear narrative. Second (and what was the initial inspiration for this project) is to offer a side-by-side, line-by-line “comparative” of the gospels that works in conjunction with the one-story telling process.

The text used in this edition is from the King James Version of the bible. This was chosen for its legacy as one of the most diligently compared translations from the original text. All verses are printed with the original chapter and verse numbers for reference. In the future, additional versions of the Gospel COMPARATIVE will follow.

It’s imperative to state that the text is wholly complete. Not a single word has been added or taken away from the original content. The text is simply laid out in a way that follows the timeline progressively. The progression of the story is based on the contextual elements of the gospels themselves.

There is no theological objective regarding this work. It’s purpose is simply to do the work for you the reader. As all scholars would concur, the four canonical gospels do not match nor do they have the exact same content. More than any one thing, this book helps the reader to easily see what story content exists for each individual version, while at the same time how that content compares to the other versions. Subsequently, one of the most compelling and insightful parts of this book is the blank space.

My hope is that every individual reader using this book finds it as illuminating and enjoyable as I found creating it.
